It is hard to imagine how time flies so fast. I still remember when last year Christmas, I was at the Champs Elysees Christmas market, feeling cold and drinking the hot Mulled Wine, walking along the crowded street and trying to find gifts for friends. And right now I am in Athens, with a super warm big sun shining all day long, staying in a village house, barbecue, and enjoying simple little cozy Christmas.
In Greece Christmas is like our Chinese New Year. It is the biggest holiday for families to get together, to give wishes, to cook & eat, enjoy family time, as well as a lot of Greek traditions. There are special food and decoration to make. I have had Christmas a lot of times for fun in China butthis time it is a “serious” one.
Special cookies : κουραμπιεδες και μελομακαρονα . Girls try to make these cookies at home (I also tried this year and it was fun), and share it with friends. And for decorations, ρόδι [rodi] will be put all over the place for good luck.
A barbecue at the fireplace is the best. And to be honest this is also this Kinezaki’s first time enjoying a real fireplace. Reading a book, seeing a movie or even taking a nap in front of the fire is super fun.
