Bruges is famous for the best reserved old buildings in Belgium, however before the visit I have asked several Belgian friends, most of them reacted like “Umm…It is quite tourists city, and it is romantic.” Never mind, I am a true tourist for now. And I name it a window shopping day in Bruges.
The main square of Bruges old town is surrounded with these colorful buildings with triangle roof top, or we can say the the whole Bruges old town is full of these buildings. Compared to other old town, here is more like a modern (not in a bad way) shopping town with useful stuff instead of full of tourists souvenirs.
Since it is near Christmas, the city is already ready for it, a lot of shops starts selling Christmas decorations. Here are pretty wooden army collection.

Thinking about Belgium as a country, it is formed with two languages area, French and Dutch. Here is a Dutch speaking area. I have heard a lot about the stories happened here that Belgium has hanged there without a government for one and half year and it still worked functionally good. Now they have already formed a government with a French speaking leader, so discussion about how to balance two parts is still hot. Me myself am from China, thinking about the whole China, I could not complain more that Chinese government is actually handling the country with 56 different races and speaking 129 languages. Saying that language is the door to learn about culture, the balance among different cultures and areas is a concern for governments globally regardless of nationalities. I am even proud to say that China is doing quite well.
Coming to Belgium, people never need to worry about what to buy as gifts. Two options, beers, and chocolates.
Till the moment I am here, I just understand that Tintin is Belgian !
Even it is a short day visit, Bruges is less touristy as I imagined, and more romantic in a Belgium way.
